The wine region
The newest wine region along of the Duero River it is often referred to as Rivera del Duero's little sister. However, in recent years the region has garnered attention on its own merit. Most often associated with blush wines and traditional styles, the region has begun to expand its products using different grapes and utilizing more fully the natural climate of the region.
Local gastronomy
The extensive catalogue of quality agricultural products includes vegetables: asparagus, leeks and carrots; rich pulses: chickpeas from Alaejos and the surrounding area and brown lentils from Tierra de Campos in Mayorga; quality meat: young lamb and pigeon; cakes and pastries: honey and exquisite homemade sweets; pure sheep’s milk cheese, such as Villalón cheese, and mature cheeses, as well as our bread. Lechuguino bread is well-known and is a one of the most characteristic foods of the province, and there are also a variety of other breads to be tried.
