The wine region

Located along the Duero River, Toro has a hotter climate than its neighbors, ideal for making bold wines. The advance over the last ten years for the wines of Toro are nothing short of dramatic, and leave little doubt about their future expectations.

Local gastronomy

The Duero River divides the province of Zamora in two regions: Tierra del Pan (land of bread) on the right, and Tierra del Vino (land of wine) on the left, evocotive in themselves of the fundamental role played by each in the gastronomic culture of the region.

The fundamental aspect of the Zamorana cuisine is not, obviously, the sophistication of the recipes, rather theuse of quality prime ingredients. Being a province dedicated to agriculture and ranching, the products of the earth are the orginal base of the cuisine, which guarantees that the person who sits at the table always "knows what he eats".

The region's rich pastures provide the ranching cattle with excellent nutrients both for meat and for the cheeses, the Zamorano cheeses have their own Demonacion de Origen that guarantees their high quality. The ajillo is served with frog legs, an other delicacy of the robust Zamorana cuisine, which, of course, matains its base in meat products, with the suckling lamb being the unquestioned reference point.

The agricultural products found in the Tierra del Pan are most famous for the flours and the chick peas of Fuentesaúco, where they also produce excellent asparagus.
