Highlights of our Faro Walking and Seafood Tour

Some of the highlights of the Faro Walking and Seafood Tour are:

Fresh seafood and Petiscos Tour in Faro

Faro’s fame as home to the region’s freshest fish market is well deserved. But apart from visiting the market, allow our local guides to take you to the best places to enjoy the local specialties, from little plates (petiscos) of local delicacies to fresh fish, Faro is a culinary delight best discovered with the help of our local experts. Discover the best dishes and most popular with the local fishermen, such as as Bifanas de Dona Xica, bite sized but oh so delicious pork sandwiches designed as a snack.

Manuel Bivar Park

The City´s best known and most beautiful park, it dates back to the 19th century. However, the history behind it goes back much further. It is considered to be the heart of the city, and is the site of the biggest festivals in the city.

Cidade Velha: Faro’s Old City

The Old City, the heart of Faro is a labyrinth of cobblestone streets, quaint corners and hidden details waiting to be discovered. 2000 +  years of history, a great deal of it in conflict, provides the background. Sites like the Moorish Walls, Arco da Vila and the Municipal Museum, housed in an old convent.

Church of Nossa Senhora do Carmo

The church was completed in 1719 and is Baroque Masterpiece. It was partially destroyed in the great earthquake of the 18th century but rebuilt in spectacular fashion. It also houses one of the most intriguing sites in Faro: the Bone Chapel!

Cathedral of Santa Maria

A spectacular 13th-century church with breathtaking views from the tower. The Cathedral is thought to sit on top of the remains of the Moorish mosque, which in turn sits on top of the remains of an older church dating back more than 1000 years.

Faro’s Municipal Market

The best place to find the freshest and best ingredients and food, from fruit and vegetables to the seafood! This modern covered market is a great place to get a taste of líving like a local!
